Ever since Apple debuted the iPhone 15 series, enthusiasts have eagerly awaited news about the upcoming iPhone 16, slated for release in 2024. Amidst the speculation, reports have emerged about an intriguing development from Apple: the patent application for an innovative feature known as “Underwater Mode.”

In a 78-page submission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Apple detailed plans for this groundbreaking feature, designed to enable iPhone usage even in aquatic environments. This feature proposes a specialized interface, aptly named the “Underwater user interface,” tailored to operate the device underwater seamlessly.

Transitioning to underwater conditions, users would access a new interface, granting them control via physical buttons. For instance, the volume rocker could serve as a zoom control within the camera app. Notably, Apple initiated the patent application process for Underwater Mode back in 2022.

Rumors suggest that this innovative feature could debut with the iPhone 16, offering users a new dimension of functionality and versatility. Despite widespread anticipation, Apple has yet to release any official details regarding the inclusion of Underwater Mode in its upcoming release.
