Apple forges ahead with Next-Gen Apple Silicon M4 Macs expected soon


Apple is swiftly advancing its plans for the next generation of Apple Silicon. Recent reports indicate that the first M4 Macs could arrive later this year.

In his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared additional insights into Apple’s M4 Mac transition. Gurman predicts that the initial upgrades will debut later this year, beginning with a 24-inch iMac and an entry-level MacBook Pro.

Timeline for M4 Mac Releases

Gurman outlined a timeline for upcoming M4 Mac releases, though it may vary depending on supply and production factors:

– A low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the M4 chip is expected by the end of 2024.
– A 24-inch iMac equipped with the M4 chip is also anticipated by the end of the year.
– New high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M4 Pro/Max chips are slated for release between late 2024 and early 2025.
– A Mac mini in both M4 and M4 Pro configurations is set to launch between late 2024 and early 2025.
– New iterations of 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs are targeted for release around spring 2025.
– A Mac Studio boasting a high-end M4 chip is expected around mid-2025.
– A Mac Pro featuring an M4 Ultra chip is anticipated in the latter half of 2025.

Details about the M4 processors’ technical specifications remain unknown. Bloomberg has reported that Apple will focus on artificial intelligence, but specific features are yet to be revealed. Apple is planning to introduce numerous new AI features in its upcoming software updates, including iOS 18 and macOS 15.
