Google has released the first developer preview of Android 15, the successor to Android 14. This major OS update emphasizes privacy, security, and improved app performance.

The initial focus of Android 15 is on enhancing user privacy and file security. Google is implementing the latest version of Privacy Sandbox, a long-term initiative to bolster privacy in mobile advertising. Additionally, Android 15 allows users to selectively screen share parts of their screen, enhancing privacy further.

Creators will gain greater access to camera hardware with Android 15, enabling them to leverage premium features like those found in Pixel cameras, GPUs, and AI processing. These expanded controls include adjusting camera preview brightness, flash strength, and connecting MIDI 2.0 devices via USB.

Android 15 introduces improved heat and processing power management tools through an enhanced Android Dynamic Performance Framework. These tools help developers optimize performance-heavy and graphic-intensive apps and games.

As Google releases more developer previews and beta versions, they will continue refining features based on feedback from users of Android 15.
