Meta’s messaging apps bring a new feature to WhatsApp users: disappearing voice messages. Now, you can send a voice message that self-destructs after one listen, similar to the “View Once” option for photos and videos introduced in 2021.
This feature adds an extra layer of security, perfect for sharing sensitive info like credit card numbers or planning surprises without leaving a digital trail. The messages will be marked with a “one-time” icon, indicating they can only be heard once. Plus, they’re protected by end-to-end encryption by default.
Meta, the company behind WhatsApp, has been prioritizing privacy changes across its platforms. While some promises, like cross-messaging between Instagram and Facebook, faced a setback, others, like encrypting WhatsApp chat backups in 2021 and now end-to-end encryption in Messenger, have been fulfilled.
