YouTube introduced a suite of innovative AI features at its recent ‘Made On’ event, aimed at empowering content creators and enhancing creative expression on the platform.
A key feature is Veo, an AI video model developed by Google DeepMind, which allows users to generate six-second clips for YouTube Shorts. This capability enables creators to effortlessly fill gaps in their existing footage, with all AI-generated clips clearly labeled and watermarked using SynthID. Additionally, the Dream Screen feature will be upgraded to create AI-generated backgrounds for Shorts, set to roll out later this year.
Enhanced Creative Support
YouTube is launching an Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio, providing AI-generated suggestions for video ideas, titles, thumbnails, and outlines to streamline the creative process. The new “Hype” feature will allow viewers to express enthusiasm for videos with a simple tap, helping creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers boost their visibility on a leaderboard based on the number of “hypes” received.
Community Engagement and Dubbing
To foster community interaction, YouTube is rolling out a “Communities” section on creators’ channels, enabling fans to connect, share fan art, and discuss videos. The platform will also introduce Automatic Dubbing, allowing creators to translate audio tracks into Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian while maintaining the original tone and ambiance.
New Features for Live Streaming and Shopping
For live streams, new digital items called “Jewels” and “gifts” will enable fans to support creators directly during broadcasts, initially available for vertical live streams in the U.S. Additionally, YouTube Shopping is expanding to Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, building on its existing presence in the U.S. and South Korea.
These developments mark a significant step forward in YouTube’s commitment to fostering creativity and engagement within its creator community.
