A well-known tipster, shared CAD plans for the upcoming iPhone 16. These plans reveal a new camera layout. The iPhone 16 now has vertically stacked cameras, with the flash placed beside the main and telephoto lenses.
Benefit for Apple’s Vision Pro
This change is expected to improve Apple’s mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro. It displays stereoscopic videos called Spatial Video. With the iPhone 16’s vertical camera setup, when held horizontally for video recording, the lenses align side by side, resembling digital eyes.
While the iPhone 15 Pro has a similar setup, it’s not available on the standard iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus models.
