Google announces easier discovery of recommendation lists from top sites and the Maps community in select U.S. and Canadian cities. To use, search a city and swipe for curated lists of recommendations. Trending, Top, and Gems lists highlight popular locations. The feature is available in 40 cities this week, with more to come.
Alongside recommendation changes, Google introduces new customization tools for list creation. Users can now choose the order of places in their lists and link content from social channels. Updates will roll out on Android and iOS later this month.
Additionally, Google Maps receives a refreshed design with a cleaner home screen, fewer tabs, and new pin colors for easier place identification.
